Weekend Snaps

Poolside brunch at the Purple Palm restaurant & bar.

This past weekend the beau and I made a quick trip to Palm Springs to visit my incredibly cool grandparents. We took them to lunch at The Parker, played their favorite dominos game Mexican Train and shared some unforgettable laughs. I fell in love with the boutique hotel we stayed at called the Colony Palms Hotel. It had that old school Palm Springs vibe but with an exotic spin. Here are some snaps from our impromptu weekend. Side note: I read my 91-year-old grandmother all the sweet comments everyone made on the picture I posted of her here and it was priceless to see her smile, blush a little and say, I'm famous!
I couldn't get enough of the stylish patterns in our room, especially this headboard.
The best banana cream pie I've ever had at Spencer's
Ariel Gordon Love Knot Ring + Teddy Girl by Butter London
I forgot how much I love rocking chairs after sitting in one of these for a bit.
My favorite part about the Colony Palms Hotel was the lush grounds with tons of private areas to relax, unwind and soak in the heat.

Light and Lace

Gigi New York The all in One Bag c/0 Graphic ImageOf Two Minds Maxi Dress, Theyskens' Theory Wedges, Ariel Gordon Spike Necklace, Vintage Bracelets, Jennifer Fisher Bone Cuff

I've always been a fan of lacy pieces. In the past I've scored some favorites at vintage stores but my most recent obsession has been this Of Two Minds maxi dress from the Spring 2012 collection. The subtle sheer stripes and 3/4 length sleeves are perfection in my book. Also on my list of recent favorites? This embossed python pouch by Gigi New York customized with my initials—such a great gift idea. I'll be giving one away this week (with the winners initials) so be sure to leave a comment with your name and email below for the chance to win! Closet Space

The other day I had an almost melt down when I couldn't find my favorite Theysken's Theory top. I rummaged through my tuna-can-sized closet over and over again only to realize it was doubled up on a hanger underneath a flannel—a space saving tactic I've resorted too. Since then I've been daydreaming about an organized, spacious, feminine room to call my closet. Here are some dreamy wardrobes I can't get enough of.
Mirrored and organized with a chandelier.
Closet + giant bathtub = lady of leisure zone.
Carrie Bradshaw's closet, one of the first I fantasized about.
Comfortable and cozy with hits of pink.
Love the fireplace in Jenna Lyons' former closet.
Jewelry designer Jennifer Fisher's white marble closet—love her style, see the rest of her incredibly cool abode over on The Coveteur.

Happy Hues

Kelly Wearstler TankCrop Jean c/0 Mother Denim, Tory Burch Heels, Woven Bag from Serafina, Ariel Gordon Flat Top Ring, Jennifer Fisher Bone Cuff, Vintage Bracelet

Nothing lifts my spirits quite like a dose of happy colors. And what better time to brighten otherwise gloomy winter days when we normally wear dark greys and blacks? The best part about warm tones is mixing them together. I couldn't resist the combination of these watermelon cropped jeans with the orange stripe detail on a bag I picked up in Pasadena

Currently Obsessed

It's no secret how my blog got started—could i have that? It all began as a (sort of) joke between my sister and me because we were constantly craving something. We'd say (in a high and slightly annoying voice), could I have that? every time we'd come across something we desired... bad. Now along with my blog I'll be sharing my latest fashion finds over on CurrentlyObsessed.me, where you can see and shop things that are making me say... could I have that? Head over to my profile here to follow me!

Winter Waves

Cut25 Wave Rib Dress c/o Bib+Tuck, Doma Leather Jacket, Celine Pouch, Steve Madden Boots, Jennifer Fisher Bone Cuff, Vintage Bracelets, Ariel Gordon Stacked Rings

Nothing makes me happier than a wardrobe piece that can be worn to just about any occasion. I quickly fell in love with this Cut25 dress for that exact reason. I could see myself throwing it on over a bikini in the summertime or pairing it with some stellar heels for a night out. And it's a perfect pattern to pair with a bright pop of color—enter my new Celine pouch that I'm still squealing over. Cold Fronts

Living in southern California has its pros. But one thing is for sure, we definitely miss out on opportunities to dress up for Winter. With two storms headed our way and chilly temperatures I'm looking forward to bundling up, wearing warm hats and breaking out the umbrella and rain boots. Here are some wintertime looks I'm currently loving.
 Dresses layered with rain coats.
 Hoods and Pea coats.
 Chambray shirts and leather jackets.
 Just-above-the-knee coats and jeans.
 Chunky scarves and men's loafers.
 Black and white fur.
Leather and aviators.

Bits and Tips

A favorite color combo cobalt + citrus and a glass flower vase from the beau.

Maybe I'm still recouping from the Holidays but lately it seems like I've been in hibernation. With two big storms and a freeze warning on the horizon this weekend, I'm secretly looking forward to a cozy marathon complete with a fire, hot coco, magazines, movies and comfort food—I literally have a list of what to pick up before Friday. Here's a few things I'm currently loving this week.
Makeup brushes in an antique tumbler I found at Maison K.
Coffee table browsing led to a new favorite book, In the Spirit of St. Barths.
My latest skin saviour for winter bumps KP Duty by Dermadoctor, a true miracle worker.

Stuffed Acorn Squash

One thing I love about the winter months are the cozy comfort foods that always sound good on a cold night. And since not all of them are low in calories (baked macaroni and cheese anyone?) I found this recipe to be pleasantly healthy and easy, which made me like it even more. Another surprising fact? Acorn squash is really tasty and is full of good stuff like vitamin C, fiber and folic acid. See the recipe below.

Stuffed Acorn Squash:
Feta Cheese
Cilantro
Quinoa or Brown Rice
Chopped Pistachio Meats

Cut Squash in half. Note: the bigger the acorn the harder it is to cut though, so you might want to opt for the smaller ones. Scoop out the insides and brush with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and put face down on a baking sheet. Roast for 15-20 minutes at 425º until tender and caramelized. While that's in the oven mix the quinoa, cilantro, pistachios and feta cheese together with a dash of olive oil. Once the squash are finished, fill the scooped out middles with the quinoa mixture and sprinkle with any remaining cilantro bits.

Hooded

Daniella Kallmeyer Hood c/o Bib + Tuck, Sequin Dress from Hallelu, Jennifer Fisher Collar Necklace and Bone Cuff, Vintage Bracelets, Ariel Gordon Squared Edge Ring, Alexander Wang Fumo Wallet, Ash Platform Booties

There's hardly a week that goes by that I don't throw on a scarf or wrap for added comfort and warmth. I have a few cashmere ones (seen here and here) that are in heavy rotation but none of them have as much glamour as this Daniella Kallmeyer fur and leather hood that landed on my doorstep as part of the Bib + Tuck Fashion Forward Project. I dressed it up with some sequins but the beauty of this number is that it can be worn just as easily with jeans and a tee.
